There is nothing more addictive than power. Power manifests itself in numerous ways, from the ability of the government to lock up criminals to more local manifestations, such as the power teachers have over students in the classroom. Just as we cannot expect a government to relinquish power without a revolution, we cannot expect teachers to relinquish control without a revolution by students. more of today's students become aware of its downsides. The revolution may not come in the classrooms they are taught in, but in the classrooms they will someday teach in. Although I have been taught with the banking method, I now recognize its limitations. I plan to be a teacher, but you won't see me in the front of a classroom. It is more likely that I'll be somewhere in the middle of a circle.
