William Blake lived from 1757-1827, and his work was published in the late eighteenth century. It was during this time that many political and social changes were developing in Britain. The style of Blake's poems showed how the old 'rules' for writing poetry were no longer followed and it became an age for individualism. This style reflects how art, poetry and even the way of thinking were rebelling against what was previously accepted.
