Sesame Street is an educational television show aimed towards preschool aged children. Puppets, called Muppets, are the prime educators on the program. They teach kids everything from the alphabet and numbers to hygiene and healthy eating. But once in a while, the show delves deeper than this and focuses on societal problems in the world through easy-to-follow songs and skits. One Muppet in particular specializes in this area. According to PBS.org, one of Sesame Street's main goals is to "...encourage children to...appreciate cultural diversity by modeling people who differ in appearance, action, or point of view by playing together, working together, making friends and resolving conflicts" (PBS Kids: Sesame Street). One special Muppet above the rest has helped Sesame Street to accomplish this goal. Thanks to Kermit, children can feel great "Bein' Green" or any other colour.
