The October revolution of 1917, led by the Bolshevik Soviets was the first communist revolution that successfully overthrew a government. This revolution was only possible due to the weaknesses of the provisional government.

The October revolution was simply caused by the incompetence of the provisional government as a whole. Moreover the revolution simply could not have occurred if the provisional government was a more people integrated government, and if they did not decide to continue to fight in WW1.
