There are those who will say that the war was already finished, that Japan had mailed in their surrender and that dropping the bomb was like using a sledgehammer to kill an ant. On the contrary, by dropping the bomb we secured an American victory without the aid of the Soviet Union and announced to the world that we have entered the atomic age.
