There were numerous factors contributing to Batista's downfall; most importantly, the role of individuals opposed to his regime. Also, Batista himself played a key part to an extent in his own downfall. There were also other causes apart from the roles of the individuals. These included the growing popularity of Fidel Castro, increasing discontentment of the people, strong dislike of the American influence evident in Cuba and Castro and Guevara's clever use of the radio.

has benefited somewhat from Batista's downfall, but is still a communistic country under Castro. The individuals had a significant influence on the fall of Batista, but there were the other causes as well. The biggest non-individual cause were the people of Cuba, whom Batista could have easily won over if he treated them correctly and did not make such a considerable distinction between the importance of the rich rather than focusing on bettering the poor.
