She is so into the wallpaper, as her husband walks in and sees the way she is acting, he passes out and she continues to creep around right over him looking and examining the room. I believe in her own mind she figured out what was wrong with her and her nervous disorder, she felt trapped and this is where the wallpaper contributes to the meaning of the story.
