Italy and Germany wanted to unify their people through common language and heritage, the United States, although dominantly English speaking, originated from a many kinds of cultures. A common heritage was not present. The civil war was fought due to conflicts among Americans because of the issues of slavery. Germany and Italy fought their wars to regain control of their territories and to establish a single dominating system of government.
