The relationship between Enkidu and Gilgamesh is that of a true friendship. The friendship between the twp is somewhat ironic because Enkidu honors Gilgamesh greatly, as a friend, as an adopted brother, and as a leader. At first there was a challenge put between the two, there was great strain on both of their behalves. This friendship definitely did not come immediately, it was somewhat earned. passes. Enkidu becomes very ill and eventually passes away. This is a great lost and devistation to Gilagmesh. He laments, he weeps for a while, he is very sad and feels a great loss in his sense of well being. This grieving period for Gilgamesh truly shows his love for Enkidu, he feels as though he has lost a brother, which in a sense he has. The word friendship is an undestatement for the two.
