Flamenco is a genuine Spanish art, and to be more exact an genuine Southern Spanish art. It exists in three forms: Cante, the song, Baile, the dance, and Guitarra, guitar playing.
Gypsies are very often named as its fathers, and at least it can be taken for certain that they played an important part in its creation. But also the popular songs and dances of Andalusia have influenced early Flamenco considerably.

Their 1987 album Gipsy Kings became a hit throughout Europe and yielded two hit singles, "Bamboleo" and "Djobi Djoba." After its U.S. release, Gipsy Kings (#57) -- helped by the fern bar ubiquity of "Bamboleo" -- stayed 42 weeks on the Billboard charts, going gold. (The Gipsy Kings have 15 international gold and platinum records.) While neither Mosaique nor Este Mundo achieved the American recognition of their predecessor, the Gipsy Kings remain a popular international live act.
