nowadays may not think the same or value the same things a settler thought or valued, the American character is still based on the same principles: freedom, individualism, hard work and passion for the things we believe in, but we now have a different concept of those principles. All in all, the American character has developed into many different things depending on the times or the circumstance, but the basic principles have remained the same.
