A hero is a man who is endowed with great courage and strength and favored by the gods. In the story "The Adventures of Ulysses", by Bernard Evslin, the character of Ulysses' describes the qualities of a hero. Ulysses displays the characteristics of bravery, intelligence, and strength. Ulysses by Bernard Evslin presents Ulysses as a god-like hero. The bravery displayed by Ulysses and his adventures with the Cyclops helps save the lives of him and his men. Ulysses intelligence leads him to outwit the Cyclops to free the men. By sheer strength, Ulysses proves a hero when he saves his men from the flowers that make them sleep.
