Many artists express themselves through self-portraits to portray how they interpret themselves and the world around them. Three artists that depict this are; Edward Munch, Salvador Dali and Rembrandt Harmensz Van Rijn.

the world, Rembrandt's reputation was established by the time he was 25. Raised in a family of 10 children, at the age of 13 he was sent to painter, Jacob Van Swanenburgh as an apprentice.
Although Rembrandt's artwork attracted a lot of attention and praise, many people also had their doubts about it. In 1628 Arnoldus Buchelius who followed the Dutch art world very closely wrote in his diary
"The Leiden miller's son is being praised highly, but prematurely."
