Saddam Hussein In my opinion the most significant person in the last year was, and still is, Saddam Hussein. This man was a born poor boy in a mud hut village in 1937, but in 1979 he seized power of Iraq and began to squander oil. The most wanted man in the world has been captured and the media is giving full coverage every day as it has been since he fled. Saddam is no question the most significant person of 2003. If he isn't then why are people through out the world celebrating his capture?
