Pocahontas was an Indian princess, the daughter of Powhatan who was the chief of an Indian tribe in Virginia. Powhatan had many wives and twenty- seven children, one being Pocahontas. She was born in the 1950s and she was named Matoaka though she is better known as Pocahontas, which means playful. Pocahontas probably saw white men for the first time in May 1607 when Englishmen landed at Jamestown, and this is also the first time she
