Alternatively, the audience's sympathy shift from Medea, to her victims, and to Jason, who she has finally revenged against, and who will suffer for a long time. The Chorus stayed truthful to Medea, even through the act of killing her children, whereas the audience felt sorry for the victims of Medea's attacks, rather than Medea herself.
