When being a teenager, it can be very lonesome and depressing. Many teenagers can feel this way and release their stress by smoking or drinking, two very dangerous things. Teenagers can feel lonely at times and go through a depression that may always occur. In The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, Holden is constantly feeling lonesome and depressed about everything. He was partly depressed because he didn't feel like anyone was helping him through all of his struggles with school and life in general. Holden was also feeling depressed because he has idealistic lover for Jane that he just cannot get over. He always has Jane in his head, wherever he is, whatever time it is, he is always thinking about her. Holden is a very unique person and has many characteristics that he holds.
