Illinois Convolution For years now the death penalty has been in effect in many states throughout the U.S. States that do not include the penalty are Minnesota, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Recently the governor of Illinois, George Ryan, has helped thirteen convicted prisoners escape. His intentions are to reconsider the guiltiness of the prisoners and determine the appropriate punishments. Considering the harm he has created to the victim's families and the overturn of the courts decision I would say that his good intentions are worth the hassle. The victim's of the crimes cannot be saved however the ones accused falsely for the crime can. Honestly I wish we had more governors like Governor George Ryan because he is not afraid to make difficult decisions in order for a better overall well being.
