For a text to be classified as Speculative Fiction it must be a combination of both Fantasy and Science Fiction and include the conventions which are traditionally associated with the genre. The elements commonly found in Speculative Fiction include the examination of humanity's misuse of technology, abuse of power, politics, religion, perceptions of freedom and above all presenting a question as to what may be in the future? In conclusion from the textual analysis that I have provided, it is clear to see that each of these texts goes beyond the expectations of the genre. Whether it be through the themes explored or the techniques implemented, each text exceeds the expectations of Speculative Fiction texts because of its clever manipulation and adaptation of the conventions within the genre.
