In conclusion, the Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson is a fairly accurate portrayal of the gospels and historical fact. Scenes which were not mentioned in the Bible came from Catholic tradition and Emmerich's visions. This is understandable because the gospels do not give the specifics which are required and usually provided for in other movie adaptations. The beatings were probably slightly exaggerated, and Mary Magdalene and possibly Pilate were inaccurately portrayed.
