A group of non-seperatist Puritans, belonging to the Catholic church of England believed that their church was corrupt because it was not open to just the "visible saints." the MBC government was oligarchic. Since the government was run by only the church members, it was in the hands of few people. The government was also authoritarian. John Winthrop was a very big leader in the church and government.
The MBC was made up of several different types of government, the two main ones being theocracy and democracy. The MBC was a strong contributor and stepping stone to teh great nation we have today.
