Early Sunday morning I woke up to go to the first location for my deaf community experience. I had made sure not to go out the night before, so I would be alert and on time. The place I had chosen to go to was the Christian Stronghold Baptist Church. The 8:30am service had an interpreter for the deaf and hard of hearing. …showed last 75 words of 680 total…was hard to tell from everyone who was deaf and who was not. I think this was a good experience to have. To watch families have little conversations, signing to each other during church. It was interesting to watch the interpreter. I have a new respect for her, now knowing what it takes to learn sign language as a second language. I felt very welcomed at this church, by everyone, and would defiantly visit again.
