Alan Parker's ``Mississippi Burning'' was criticized for making white FBI agents into heroes of the civil rights era when the real FBI was conspicuous by its lack of enthusiasm for that assignment. But that film paid its way with great performances and tremendously moving drama. ``Ghosts of Mississippi'' generates nowhere near as much passion. It closes a chapter in history, but scarcely brings it to life.
