Non-violent resistance played a major role in India's struggle for independence. There were other people that used this but one person that sticks out in most people's minds is Gandhi. If Gandhi had used another form of fighting back, he probably would have been killed and wouldn't have been able to help lead India to independence. After everything that Mahatma Gandhi did to help India gain independence by non-violence resistance, he was shot and killed by a Hindu man named Nathuram Godse while he was holding a prayer. Gandhi was a very powerful man in the fight for Indian independence and without him; India wouldn't have been able to gain independence without a lot of violence.
