The reasons for war only affected the republicans, and because they were a majority among the people, the war was fought. The federalists knew this and in reaction they committed acts that were disloyal to the nation. Acts such as the Hartford Convention and what was shown in the Boston paper. The federalists didn't go as far as treason, but they were disloyal to the United States during the War of 1812.
