Instant Messaging and the game DOOM. Instant messaging is when two different computers are in direct contact with each other. Enabling instant replies and interactions. Were it not for the lack of security and firewalls in P2P, then it would be ideal for e-commerce. Since there is no third party, like E-bay involved to ensure security, then for the time being P2P is used in online games, instant messaging and Intranet services (Dochstader 2003).
