DOVER BEACH
Dover Beach is a very 'mood' evoking poem . We are first met with an appreciation for the sea and different emotions that is draws to the observer. However as the poem progresses we are gradually introduced to a large metaphor for love and like the sea is able to evoke many moods , and different emotions , whether prosperous or decayed. The poet describes the emotions with extreme passion and perhaps with slight hysteria. We

as words to support this , ' love , true , dreams ,beautiful and new'.However again like the stanzas preceding it , changes mood again, to try and tell us that not matter what happens , whether we are true , or in love , we will never understand the this beauty , either the poet here is referring to love , life or the actual beauty of the sea and Dover Beach we do not know , however it points to these themes.
