Archetypal Analysis of Early Symbols While researching the early symbols of mankind, I found that there were many that appeared in various regions of the world. The interesting part, however, was that some had meaning that was essentially the same across the globe, even in places whose cultures had obviously never met. It also symbolized unity between heaven and earth, balance, and harmony. Circles were also combined with other circles, as shown at right, to form circles within circles. This symbolized focus, as well as the mother archetype. Finally, the last major variation of the circle was a circle with a dot in the middle.
