It gave me a better perspective of how things really were during the Papal States period.
In short the book was an eye opener for me and how things were ran by the Holy church. I have known some Italians and have noticed the behavior. It really explains why they do and think the way they do. I would recommend this book to any history person that would be interested in the history of Italy
