Other times two nations can come so close to war the entire world sits on the edge of their seats waiting to see what will happen. Will someone back down or will the world be destroyed in WW III? it was a war that needed to be fought. The "Cold War" symbolized the conflict between two different societies. It was the United States on the side of capitalism and democracy and the Soviet Union on the side of communism. The Cold War went on for years after the Cuban Missile Crisis was over. Over the years there were many other conflicts but cooler heads prevailed and we have our freedom to show for it.
