poem. Owens uses of imagery and word choice have provided me with a greater understanding of the conditions on world war one. My favourite piece of word choice is the one when Owen directs the poem towards Jessie Pope. It is a poem that gives anyone who reads it a better understanding of the harsh and mortifying conditions on the western front, and serves as a reminder to the horrors of war.
