Confucius was a large believer that things should be based on virtue, and not on blood. Confucius stated that the ideal person was one of good moral character. of whom to respect. Confucius spoke about Home and abroad and Mencius spoke about how to treat someone when pouring them a glass of wine. Either way, they both taught proper respect to elders in different situations. I can see how Mencius based his beliefs on Confucius ways and how most all his beliefs resemble Confucius, it just seems to me that Mencius put a little more detail into moral support and happiness from all.
