That is why they are both where they are right now. Mr. Martin is on top rid of Mrs. Barrows, and Uncle Quinn is rich. To gain one thing one must lose something else. In this case, these men lost their inner beauty. They lost the ability to care about others. In the end, that is the greater good. It is better to have love than money. Mr. Martin and Uncle Quinn are just illusions.
