A sense of fear existed during the cold war. The same feelings have been brought about with the terrorist attack on 9/11. There are many similar reasons why. Both of these events, the cold war and the 9/11 attack, sparked a sense of fear and paranoia in the American public. And in many cases that fear and paranoia led to the accusation of many innocent people, and in some cases the ruining of lives.
