When I first began reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" the first character that caught my eye was "Scout" the narrator of our story. However as the plot progressed I began to become more and more fascinated by the character Atticus Finch. What attracted Atticus to me was his patient and understanding attitude towards everyone regardless of their age, sex, or race. Even though he does not evolve in the novel like his children he maintains his noble qualities without fail through the entire novel. Atticus cemented my respect for him when he said "... This case, Tom Robinson's case, is something that goes to the essence of a man's conscience-Scout, I couldn't go to church and worship God if I didn't try to help that man..." (pg 104)
