protect her infant the best way she possible could. In order for Sethe to overcome her past, she needed to cure herself. Sethe needed to recognize and accept her own value as a person, separate and apart from being just the mother of her children. Beloved not being there help both Denver and Sethe to understand each other better and have more respect toward each other.
