Almost every religious group practices some form of "baptism." But there are many different ways in which these religions perform the sacrament. Some immerse. Some sprinkle. Some pour water over the head for baptism. Some baptize to get someone into their particular church. Some practice it for the remission of sins. Some, it seems, don't know why they do it.

re-baptism implies that God's grace somehow did not count when the person was first baptised.
Baptism signifies the gift of the Holy Spirit, and as such is often accompanied by the sign of laying on of hands, and by anointing. As with every sacrament, there is a special mystery and wonder in baptism. Baptism incorporates us into Christ's body, and starts us on the path to the holiness of heart and life which salvation brings.
