Monarchs, Banks signed a contract with the Chicago Cubs. This was no
ordinary signing. This was the first signing of an African American for the
Chicago Cubs.
Only a few years after his signing (1953), Banks became a favorite
amongst the Wrigley fans. He had an amazing second full season, smacking
forty-four homeruns and batting a cool .275. He also scored ninety-eight

eye, and knowing that Ernie Banks is a monumental
Cub, he seemed as good a prospect as any. I have wanted to learn
about the Cubs previous adventures, to relate to what I have learned and
what I have experienced in my time.
I have appreciated the time I put into this report, seeings that it was
work, but also an enjoyable subject. I wish to learn more about other
Cub's greats in the future.
