Catal Hoyuk is a key site in the study of early urban centers in the Near East. The site, which dates to the Neolithic, is one of the earliest sites where evidence for early agriculture and large-scale settlement has been found. This article will be useful as it clearly layout some of the questions that arise with evaluating a cognative aspect of the past. Though we may never be able to truly know the religious practices of the people of the past, investigations such as this will help to raise the questions that we need to find answers for.
