This novel, A Thousand Acres, is about three sisters. Each of whom are trying to receive an equal part of the farm corporation that their father had set up over the years. It is a rather large farm, so there is quite a bit of land to divvy up. The aging father is trying to set up the corporation so that the daughters won't have to pay inheritance taxes. They just let themselves be pushed over and the problem was never resolved, then their father died and they never talked about it with him. I also don't like the fact that the sisters were arguing over the land like it was a toy. It was an easy book to understand, but most people wouldn't really care for it because not many people can relate to it.
